M-DataTech is currently undertaking a number of research projects involving acoustic telemetry.
Acoustic tagging allows us to track the movements of sharks and fish from one location to another. Tags are injected harmlessly into the fish, and arrays of receivers are deployed throughout the target habitat.
Signals emitted from the tags are picked up by the receivers, allowing the team to track the movements of each tagged individual, providing behavioural information and insight into habitat use.
Some of our projects include:
Black Bass Sport Fishing - Papua New Guinea
Constraint mapping - Hinchinbrook Island
